Why You Should Use Natural Deodorant
I was skeptical when it came to trying a natural deodorant as I did not want to walk around smelling like a skunk. The first time I tried to wear natural deodorant it was an epic fail. I sweated all day and I was funky. I had to do something as wearing regular deodorant was no longer an option. It has been almost a year now that I have been wearing natural deodorant and I can now confidently hug others. Ha!
Hygiene and beauty products contain chemicals that are harmful. Chemicals are being used to preserve products, prevent mold and bacteria growth, cause a lather effect and give fragrance and color. This sounds great and all but there is a gamble with your health involved. Non-natural deodorants contain aluminum, parabens, fragrances, steareths and triclosan – to name a few.
Aluminum can clog your pores therefor preventing sweating. I know, we want to stay dry but at what costs? Parabens are used to preserve product by preventing bacteria growth and mold. Parabens have been linked to spur the growth of certain types of breast cancer cells. Fragrances can cause irritation and allergic reactions as it is absorbed through the skin. Steareths are used to help hold together the ingredients of the products therefor preventing separation. Triclosan is also used to prevent bacteria and mold growth in products. Sounds good right? So not so…. I decided to detox my underarms and this also helped with the stench. I also improved my diet.
Armpit detox recipe-
You will need-
Bowl or Cup – Do not use metal
Fork or Spoon- Do not use metal
Bentonite clay- Approx. 1 teaspoon
Apple Cider Vinegar- Approx. 2 teaspoons
- Combine the bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar until smooth. You may need more or less ACV so always eyeball as you combine it with the bentonite clay.
- Apply to underarms.
- Let dry.
- Rinse with lukewarm water.
I detoxed my arm pits once a week until I achieved my desired results. This can vary from person to person as each individual is unique.
I do not wear deodorant every day. I know this may sound crazy, but now I am able to do this. I learned I could do this when I went an entire day without my deodorant. I was simply rushing and forgot to put it on. I sweated throughout the day but did not have an odor. Go me! Ha!
Natural deodorants are the best way to go to support good health. Although chemicals preserve our products, they are also gambling with our health. So, are they really helping us?
